Indian mynas, pigeons and sparrows look for sheltered gaps around the roof. The usual spots are the gap between the gutter and the roof sheets or tiles, under ridge caps and valleys, behind fascias, and the space under solar panels.
Once they're in, you get noise from first light, droppings on the roof, panels and paths, and nesting material that blocks gutters and downpipes. Dry nesting material packed into the roof or around solar cabling is also a fire risk.
The space under a solar array is warm, dry and safe from predators, so pigeons move in fast. One array can hold several nests.
We fit Karben Guard solar panel bird mesh around the edge of the array. It clips to the panel frame, so there's no drilling into panels or frames, and Karben designs it to protect panels without voiding the system warranty. It doesn't cover the glass, so it won't block sunlight.
Droppings are one of the main reasons panels get heavily soiled. We can clean your panels at the same visit.

NYLON CLIPS

STAINLESS CLIPS
Most often through the gap at the gutter line, under the first row of tiles or roof sheets, and around ridge caps and valleys. An inspection shows exactly where.
No. It clips to the panel frame, so nothing is drilled into the panels or frames.
Yes. We clear nests and droppings before any proofing goes in, so nothing is sealed underneath.
Mynas and feral pigeons are introduced species. If we find an active native bird nest, we'll talk you through the right timing before anything is sealed.
It depends on the roof, the number of panels and access. Quotes are free. We get up on the roof, take proper measurements and check every spot before we quote.
